About Virginia Schedule ADJS

Virginia Schedule ADJS provides extra space for additions, subtractions, and deductions that do not fit on Schedule ADJ or Schedule 763 ADJ. Use it with a resident Form 760 or nonresident Form 763 return when you need more adjustment lines. Part-year residents use Schedule PY ADJS instead.

The 2025 PDF contains one page with separate sections for additions to federal adjusted gross income, subtractions from federal adjusted gross income, and deductions from Virginia adjusted gross income. Each section provides ten code-and-amount entries and a total line. Enter your name and Social Security number as shown on your Virginia return.

Use the adjustment codes in the Form 760 instructions or Form 763 instructions, depending on your return. Include the supplemental amounts in the corresponding totals on your main adjustment schedule, then submit both schedules with your return. You may use additional copies of Schedule ADJS if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here are answers to common questions about downloading, printing, completing, and attaching 2025 Virginia Schedule ADJS.

When do I need Schedule ADJS?

Use Schedule ADJS when you have more coded additions, subtractions, or deductions than your main adjustment schedule can hold. Report the extra entries on this supplemental schedule and include them in the totals on Schedule ADJ or Schedule 763 ADJ. You do not need Schedule ADJS if all of your entries fit on the main schedule.

Where do I transfer the Schedule ADJS totals?

For 2025, include Schedule ADJS Line 11 in the total additions on Line 3 of Schedule ADJ or Schedule 763 ADJ. Include Line 22 in total subtractions on Line 7, and Line 33 in total deductions on Line 9. These amounts supplement the entries already reported on your main adjustment schedule.

Where can I find the adjustment codes and instructions?

Residents should use the Schedule ADJ guidance in the Form 760 instructions. Nonresidents should use the Schedule 763 ADJ guidance in the Form 763 instructions. Those booklets explain the addition, subtraction, and deduction codes and the requirements for each adjustment.

Can part-year residents use Schedule ADJS?

Part-year residents filing Form 760PY use Schedule PY ADJS for supplemental adjustments. That schedule works with Schedule 760PY ADJ and has its own line references for transferring totals. Use the supplemental schedule that matches your return.

Should I attach Schedule ADJS to my return?

Yes. Submit Schedule ADJS with Schedule ADJ or Schedule 763 ADJ as part of your Virginia income tax return. Follow the return instructions for the supplemental-schedule checkbox and any supporting documents required for your adjustments. Keep a copy with your tax records.
